Divide Zero is a work in progress: a one-hour audiovisual/dome experience, combined with performance art, inspired by the nature of black holes and the mathematical theories that surround these mysterious entities.
Created by Jay Chia Henareh, Divide Zero grew directly from the questions posed in Unknown: "If reality is a constructed frame, how do we grasp the very fabric of time and space?"
Inspired by black holes, cosmic phenomena, where time and space collapse.
The project begins with a research question: “How can immersive media and technology be used to alter human perception of time and space?”
This research launched in collaboration with the Netherlands Film Academy and Artis Planetarium, in February 2023.
During development, Jay and his team hosted open studios. Inviting participants to experience Divide Zero and share their responses. After months of intensive work, Divide Zero was presented as a work-in-progress tryout, at Artis Planetarium in Amsterdam.
Realized with TouchDesigner, Unreal Engine visuals, 4K dome projection, four-channel surround sound and live performance. Divide Zero dissolves the boundaries between art, technology and science.
